The Son of Man, indeed, goeth, as it has been written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It were good for him, if that man had never been born!"

and, as they were eating, He said, "Verily I say to you, one of you will betray Me." And, being exceedingly grieved, they began to say to Him, each one, "Is it I, Lord?" And He, answering, said, "He who dipped with Me his hand in the dish, the same will betray Me.

And, when about to go up to Jerusalem, Jesus took with Him the twelve disciples privately, and on the way He said to them, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered to the high-priests and scribes; and they will condemn Him to death; and will deliver Him up to the gentiles, to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify; and, on the third day, He will be raised up "

Having said these things, Jesus was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, "Verily, verily, I say to you, that one of you will betray Me." Simon Peter, therefore, beckons to this one, and says to him, "Tell us who it is about whom He is speaking." He, leaning back as he was on the breast of Jesus, says to Him, "Lord, who is it?" Jesus, therefore, answereth, "He it is for whom I shall dip the morsel, and give it to him." Having, therefore, dipped the morsel, He taketh and giveth it to Judas, son of Simon Iscariot. And after the morsel, then Satan entered into him. Jesus, therefore, saith to him, "What you do, do quickly."

And, while He is yet speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a large multitude, with swords and clubs, from the high priests and elders of the people. And he who was betraying Him gave them a sign, saying, "Whomsoever I kiss, He it is; seize Him." And immediately coming to Jesus, he said, "Hail, Rabbi!" and kissed Him.

And straightway, while He yet spake, comes Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a multitude with swords and clubs, from the high priests and the scribes and the elders. Now he that was betraying Him gave them a signal, saying, "Whomsoever I shall kiss, This is He, take Him, and lead Him away securely." And, having come, going straightway to Him, he says, "Rabbi;" and kissed Him.

While He was yet speaking, behold, a multitude, and he who is called Judas, one of the twelve, was coming before them; and he drew near to Jesus to kiss Him. And Jesus said to him, "Judas, do ye betray the Son of Man with a kiss?"

Then Judas, who betrayed Him, seeing that He was condemned, repenting, brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the high priests and the elders, saying, "I sinned, having betrayed innocent blood." But they said, "What is that to us? You may see to that." And, throwing the pieces of silver into the temple, he withdrew; and, going away, he hanged himself.

"And brother will deliver up brother to death; and father, his child; and children will rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death.

But ye will be delivered up even by parents, and brothers, and kindred, and friends; and they will put some of you to death.

for I came to set a man at variance with his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and the man's foes will be those of his own house-hold.

And then will many be caused to stumble, and will deliver up one another, and hate one another;

For which cause I am suffering also these things; but I am not ashamed; for I know Whom I have believed, and have become persuaded that He is able to guard my deposit unto that day.
