Is not your life a greater gift than food, and your body than clothing? Observe the birds of the air, that they neither sow, nor reap, nor gather into granaries. Yet your heavenly Father feeds them. And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field how they grow: they toil not, nor do they spin. But I say to you, That Solomon, in all his glory, was not clothed like one of these. If then, God so clothes the herb of the field, which to-day is, and to-morrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, you of little faith? Therefore, be not anxious, saying: What shall we eat? or, what shall we drink? or, with what shall we be clothed? For after all these things do the Gentiles seek: for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you in addition. Therefore, be not anxious about the morrow, for the morrow will have anxieties of its own. Sufficient for the day is its own evil.

Let not your heart be troubled; believe in God; believe also in me.

Be anxious about nothing, but in every thing, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God:

Cast all your cares on him, for he cares for you.

While he was yet speaking, some came from the ruler of the synagogue, who said: Your daughter is dead; why give the Teacher further trouble? But as soon as Jesus heard what was spoken, he said to the ruler of the synagogue: Fear not, only believe.
