And when they had come to Capernaum, those who received the halfshekel came to Peter, and said, Doth not your teacher pay the halfshekel?

Let him that is taught in the word share with the teacher in all good things.

And it came to pass afterward, that he journeyed through cities and villages, preaching and publishing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God; and the twelve were with him, and certain women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons, and Joanna, the wife of Chuzas, Herods steward, and Susanna, and many others, who afforded them aid from their substance.

And ye yourselves also know, Philippians, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I went forth from Macedonia, no church communicated with me in an account of giving and receiving, but ye only; for even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again to my necessity.

Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor; especially they who labor in the word and in teaching. For the Scripture saith, "Thou shalt not muzzle the ox while he is treading out the grain"; and, "The laborer is worthy of his wages."

For Macedonia and Achaia have thought it good to make a contribution for the poor among the saints in Jerusalem.

Now concerning the collection for the saints, according to the directions which I gave to the churches of Galatia, so also do ye.

and they sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as any one had need.

For there was no one among them that was in want; for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, and laid them at the feet of the apostles; and distribution was made to every one, according as he had need.

And according as any one of the disciples was prospered, they determined every one of them to send relief to the brethren who dwelt in Judaea; which also they did, sending it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.

For it is not that others may be eased, and you burdened, but to make an equality; at the present season your abundance meeting their deficiency, that their abundance may at another time meet your deficiency; that there may be equality; as it is written: "He that gathered much, had nothing over; and he that gathered little, had no lack."
