After this he went out and saw a tax collector named Levi, sitting at the tax booth. And he said to him, "Follow me."
Jesus said to him, "If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me." When the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, "Follow me."
(This he said to show by what kind of death he was to glorify God.) And after saying this he said to him, "Follow me."
May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus,
What I mean is that each one of you says, "I follow Paul," or "I follow Apollos," or "I follow Cephas," or "I follow Christ."
Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
"If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.
Then Jesus told his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
And he said to all, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.
And Jesus said to him, "Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead."
Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel's will save it.
Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will keep it.
Jesus said to him, "If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me."
And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, "You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me."
When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me."
For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, 'This man began to build and was not able to finish.'read more.
Or what king, going out to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and deliberate whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? And if not, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks for terms of peace. So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.
For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.
To another he said, "Follow me." But he said, "Lord, let me first go and bury my father."
Yet another said, "I will follow you, Lord, but let me first say farewell to those at my home."
And a large crowd was following him, because they saw the signs that he was doing on the sick.
After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him.
And immediately he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants and followed him.
One of the two who heard John speak and followed Jesus was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.
Nevertheless, many even of the authorities believed in him, but for fear of the Pharisees they did not confess it, so that they would not be put out of the synagogue;
Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him."
Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him."
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling,
So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples,
If anyone has no love for the Lord, let him be accursed. Our Lord, come!
Slaves, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ, not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,
And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments.
and whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him. And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us. Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us.
It is these who have not defiled themselves with women, for they are virgins. It is these who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These have been redeemed from mankind as firstfruits for God and the Lamb,
