When Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he went on from there to teach and preach in their cities.

Then Jesus called his disciples to him and said, "I have compassion on the crowd because they have been with me now three days and have nothing to eat. And I am unwilling to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way."
Jesus turned and saw them following and said to them, "What are you seeking?" And they said to him, "Rabbi" (which means Teacher), "where are you staying?"
And when his disciples James and John saw it, they said, "Lord, do you want us to tell fire to come down from heaven and consume them?"
And he said to the disciples, "The days are coming when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it.
And he called the twelve and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits.
Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We will go with you." They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.
The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with a word him who is weary. Morning by morning he awakens; he awakens my ear to hear as those who are taught.
John said to him, "Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him, because he was not following us."
Yet another said, "I will follow you, Lord, but let me first say farewell to those at my home."
Simon Peter, Thomas (called the Twin), Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together.
But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, "Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?"
