who desire to walk in long robes, and love salutations in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief places at feasts,
And on the morrow, when Agrippa was come and Bernice with great pomp, and were entered into the place of audience, with the tribunes and principal men of the city, at the command of Festus, Paul was brought forth.
Therefore when thou dost alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do, in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.

But all their works they do, to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and inlarge the fringes of their garments.
Take heed that ye practise not your righteousness before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. Therefore when thou dost alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do, in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward. But when thou dost alms, let not thy left-hand know what thy right-hand doth:read more.
That thy alms may be in secret, and thy father who seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
And he said to them in his teaching, Beware of the Scribes, who love to go in long sobes, and to be saluted in the market-places, And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost places at feasts: Who devour widows houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive the greater damnation.
