"You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.'

"The eye is the very lamp of the body. If then your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light.

Why do you keep watching the tiny speck in your brother's eye, but pay no attention to the girder in your own? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me get that tiny speck out of your eye,' while all the time there is a girder in your own? You hypocrite, first get the girder out of your own eye, and then you can see well enough to get the tiny speck out of your brother's eye.

For this people's soul has grown dull, and with their ears they can scarcely hear, and they have shut tight their eyes, so that they will never see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn to me, so that I may cure them!'

by having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, so that you may know what the hope is to which He calls you, how glorious rich God's portion in His people is,

not serving them as though they were watching you, but as true slaves of Christ, trying to carry out the will of God.

because everything that is in the world, the things that our lower nature and eyes are longing for, and the proud pretensions of life, do not come from the Father, but from the world;

They have eyes full of adultery and insatiable by sin. They practice enticing unsteady souls. They have trained their hearts in greed. They are doomed to a curse!

"The eye is the very lamp of the body. If then your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is unsound, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the very source of light in you is darkness, how dense is that darkness!

And as He noticed it He said to them, "Why are you discussing the fact that you have no bread? Do you not yet know nor understand? Are your minds so dull? Since you have eyes can you not see with them? Since you have ears can you not hear with them?
