The words of a talebearer seem smooth, but they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.

When its boughs are withered, they shall be broken off: women shall come and set them on fire: for this is not a people of understanding: therefore he that made them will not have mercy on them, and he that formed them will show them no favour.

Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire devours both the ends of it, and the midst of it is burned. Is it meet for any work? Behold, when it was whole, it was meet for no work; how much less afterward shall it be meet for any work when the fire has devoured it, and it is burned? Therefore thus hath the Lord GOD said: As the vine tree among the trees of the forest which I have given to the fire for fuel, so I have given over the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

The man shall then use of it for firewood; for he will take thereof and warm himself; he will kindle it and bake bread; he will also make a god and worship it; he will fabricate an idol and shall kneel down before it.

multiplying the wood, kindling the fire, to consume the flesh and to make the broth, and the bones shall be burned;

And while the sons of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered firewood upon the sabbath day.

Take the choice of the flock and burn also the bones under it and make it boil well and let them seethe the bones of it therein.

The sons gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough to make cakes to the queen of heaven and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods that they may provoke me to anger.

They took the young men to grind, and the children fell under the wood.

and for the wood offering, at the appointed times, and for the firstfruits. Remember me, O my God, for good.

We have drunk our water for money; our wood is sold unto us.

And all Lebanon is not sufficient for the fire, nor all the beasts thereof sufficient for the sacrifice.

Where there is no wood, the fire goes out, so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceases.
