And he himself gave some to be apostles, and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the complete instruction of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the building up of the body of the Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to a measure of stature that fully develops the Christ;

and the servant of the Lord must not be contentious, but gentle toward all men, able to teach, patient under evils, in meekness instructing those who oppose themselves, if, possibly, God may give them repentance in order to the acknowledgment of the truth, and that they may awake to sobriety out of the snare of the devil, after having been taken captive by him according to his will.

And you fathers, do not provoke your children to anger: but bring them up in the instruction and discipline of the Lord.
