Moses said, "honour thy father and thy mother;" and, if any one speak contemptibly of his father, or his mother, let him be put to death. but your doctrine is this, if any one shall tell his father or his mother, that what he could bestow for their relief, is corban, that is, to be given to the temple; you discharge him from the obligation of doing any thing for his father or his mother.read more.

honour thy father and thy mother: and, thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."

you know the commandments, "do not commit adultery, do not kill, do not steal, do not bear false witness, honour thy father and mother."

Children, obey your christian parents: for this is the law. the first commandment with a promise annexed, is, "honour thy father and mother, that it may be well with thee, and thou mayst be long-lived on the earth."

children, obey your parents upon all occasions, for that is graceful in a christian.

when our natural parents corrected us, we gave them reverence: is it not much more reasonable to be in subjection to the father of spirits, in order to have life?

Then they brought young children to him, that he might lay his hands upon them: but his disciples rebuked those that presented them. which Jesus observing was much displeas'd with them, and said, suffer little children to come unto me, do not hinder them: for of such is the kingdom of God. Confide in your guides, and be respectful: that they who are vigilant, as being accountable for your souls, may discharge themselves with cheerfulness, and not with anxiety, which would be to your prejudice.

Don't treat a senior with harsh reproof, but exhort him as a father, and the young men, as brethren: the elder women as mothers; the younger, as sisters, with all purity.
