For if, after having escaped the defilements of the world in a full knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, but, having again become entangled with these, they are overcome, the last state has become worse with them than the first. For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ; and no wonder, for even Satan transforms himself into an angel of light! It is no great thing, therefore, if his ministers also transform themselves as ministers of righteousness; whose end will be according to their works.
