But neither he nor his servants nor the people of the land listened to the words of the LORD that he spoke through Jeremiah the prophet.

Do not go after other gods to serve and worship them, or provoke me to anger with the work of your hands. Then I will do you no harm.' Yet you have not listened to me, declares the LORD, that you might provoke me to anger with the work of your hands to your own harm.

O LORD, do not your eyes look for truth? You have struck them down, but they felt no anguish; you have consumed them, but they refused to take correction. They have made their faces harder than rock; they have refused to repent.

In vain have I struck your children; they took no correction; your own sword devoured your prophets like a ravening lion.

"So you shall speak all these words to them, but they will not listen to you. You shall call to them, but they will not answer you. And you shall say to them, 'This is the nation that did not obey the voice of the LORD their God, and did not accept discipline; truth has perished; it is cut off from their lips.

Yet they did not listen or incline their ear, but stiffened their neck, that they might not hear and receive instruction.

They have turned to me their back and not their face. And though I have taught them persistently, they have not listened to receive instruction.
