Let the Christ, the king of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him were reviling him.

At my first defence no one came forward with me, but all forsook me. May it not be laid to their charge!

And as he came near the gate of the city, lo! there was carried out dead an only son of his mother, and she was a widow; and a great multitude from the city was with her.

Then was fulfilled that which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet, saying, "A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping, and great mourning; Rachel weeping for her children, and refusing to be comforted, because they were no more."

Now she that is a widow indeed, and left alone, hath set her hope on God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day;

And when he had landed, there met him a certain man out of the city who had demons, and for a long time had worn no clothes, and abode not in a house, but in the tombs.

And when he had come out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, who had his dwelling in the tombs; and not even with a chain could any one bind him any longer;

And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion; because many demons had entered into him.

And he asked him, What is thy name? And he saith to him, Legion is my name; for we are many.

And a certain man lame from his birth was carried along, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of those who entered the temple;

And as they were going out, lo! they brought to him a dumb man, possessed by a demon.

Then was brought to him one possessed by a demon, blind and dumb; and he healed him, so that the dumb man spoke and saw.

And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten lepers, who stood afar off.

And when he had spent all, there arose a great famine in that country; and he began to be in want. And he went and joined himself to one of the citizens of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. And he longed to fill himself with the husks that the swine ate; and no one gave to him.

For I am persuaded, that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God for us, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

And they were on the road, going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus was leading the way; and they were amazed, and they that followed were afraid. And again taking the twelve aside, he began to tell them what things were about to befall him:

Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve apart, and on the way said to them, Lo! we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man will be delivered up to the chief priests and scribes; and they will condemn him to death, and will deliver him up to the gentiles to mock, and scourge, and crucify; and on the third day he will rise again.

Besides the other troubles, there is that which presseth upon me daily, the anxiety for all the churches.

And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

And when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani? which is, when interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Then was Jesus led up by the Spirit into the wilderness, to be tempted by the Devil. And when he had tasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward hungry.

And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan, and was led in the Spirit in the wilderness forty days, tempted by the Devil. And he ate nothing in those days; and when they were ended, he was hungry.

And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into the mountain apart to pray. And when evening came, he was there alone.

And all in the synagogue, when they heard this, were filled with wrath. And they rose up, and forced him out of the city and took him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, to cast him down headlong; but he, passing through the midst of them, went away.

Jesus therefore said to the twelve, Do ye also wish to go away?

Behold, the hour is coming, yea, is now come, when ye will be scattered, every one to his own, and will leave me alone; and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

But do thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and, when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret; and thy Father, who seeth in secret, will reward thee.

And he came a little nearer, and fell on his face, praying and saying, Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me! nevertheless, not as I will, but as Thou wilt.

And rising early, long before day, he went out, and withdrew into a desert place, and there prayed.

And he immediately constrained his disciples to get into the boat, and to go before to the other side to Bethsaida, while he sent the multitude away. And when he had taken leave of them, he went away into the mountain to pray.

I John, your brother, and companion in the affliction and kingdom and endurance in Jesus, was in the isle that is called Patmos, on account of the word of God, and the testimony of Jesus.

And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter and James and John, and leadeth them up into a high mountain apart by themselves; and he was transfigured before them.

I know a man in Christ, fourteen years ago,whether in the body, I know not, or whether out of the body, I know not; God knoweth,such a one caught up even to the third heaven. And I know such a man, whether in the body, or without the body, I know not; God knoweth, that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

And he saith to them, Come ye by yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while. For there were many coming and going; and they had no leisure, even to eat. And they went away into a desert place in the boat apart.

Come to me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
