The multitude also belonging to the cities around came together to Jerusalem bringing the sick, and those plagued by unclean spirits; and they were all healed.

And this she did for many days. But Paul, being much displeased, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And it came out immediately.

so that even handkerchiefs, or aprons, were carried from his body to the sick, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out.

Then Jesus answering said to her, O woman, great is thy faith; be it done to thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was cured from that hour.

And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon went out of him; and the boy was cured from that hour.

And the rest of men, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, and of silver, and of brass, and of stone, and of wood, which can neither see; nor hear, nor walk;

Now the Spirit saith expressly, that in the latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and teachings of demons,

Nay, but that what they sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God; and I would not that ye should have communion with demons. Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of demons; ye cannot be partakers of the Lords table, and the table of demons.

Then will he say also to those on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into the everlasting fire, which is prepared for the Devil and his angels.

For if God spared not angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them over to chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

and the angels which kept not their principality, but left their own dwellingplace, he hath kept in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day;

And lo! they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Son of God? Didst thou come here to torment us before the time?

And seeing Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and said with a loud voice, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, Son of the most high God? I beseech thee, do not torment me.

And lo! they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Son of God? Didst thou come here to torment us before the time?

And the unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried out, saying, Thou art the Son of God.

And the evil spirit answering said, Jesus I knew, and Paul I well know; but who are ye?

And seeing Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and said with a loud voice, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, Son of the most high God? I beseech thee, do not torment me.

And immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit, and he cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus of Nazareth? Thou hast come to destroy us; we know who thou art, the Holy One of God.

And when they had come to the multitude, there came to him a man, kneeling down to him, and saying, Lord, have compassion on my son; for he is a lunatic, and is sorely afflicted; for he often falleth into the fire, and often into the water. And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. read more.
Then Jesus answering said, Unbelieving and perverse generation! How long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him hither to me. And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon went out of him; and the boy was cured from that hour.

And one of the multitude answered him, Teacher, I have brought to thee my son, who hath a dumb spirit. And wherever it seizeth hold of him, it throweth him down; and he foameth and gnasheth his teeth; and he pineth away. And I spoke to thy disciples to cast it out, and they were not able. He answereth and saith to them, O unbelieving generation! How long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to me. read more.
And they brought him to him. And as soon as he saw him, the spirit convulsed him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed, foaming. And he asked his father, How long hath it been thus with him? And he said, From a child; and it hath often cast him both into fire, and into water, to destroy him; but if thou art able to do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us. Jesus said to him, If thou art able? All things are possible for him that believeth. The father of the child immediately cried out and said, I believe; help thou my unbelief. And Jesus seeing that the multitude came running together, rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, Dumb and deaf spirit, I command thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him. And uttering a cry, and convulsing him much, it came out of him. And he became as one dead; so that very many said, He is dead. But Jesus, taking hold of his hand, raised him, and he stood up.

And it came to pass that on the next day, when they had come down from the mountain, a great multitude met him. And lo! a man from the multitude cried out, saying, Teacher, I beseech thee, look upon my son, for he is my only child; and lo! a spirit seizeth him, and suddenly crieth out, and convulseth him so that he foameth, and it departeth from him hardly, taking away all his strength. read more.

Bring thy son hither. And while he was yet coming, the demon threw him down, and convulsed him. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him to his father.

Many of them said, He hath a demon, and is mad; why do ye hear him?

The multitude answered, Thou hast a demon! Who seeketh to kill thee?

And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebul; and, He casteth out the demons through the prince of the demons. Then she came and fell down before him, saying, Lord, help me! But he answering said, It is not allowable to take the childrens bread, and throw it to the little dogs. And she said, Yea, Lord; for the little dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from the table of their masters. And departing thence, Jesus came near the lake of Galilee; and going up the mountain, he sat down there.

But a woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, immediately hearing of him, came in, and fell at his feet. The woman was a Greek, a Syrophoenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast out the demon from her daughter. And he said to her, Let the children be filled first; for it is not well to take the childrens bread and throw it to the little dogs. read more.

And when he had come to the other side, into the country of the Gadarenes, there met him two men possessed by demons, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that no one could pass by that way. And lo! they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Son of God? Didst thou come here to torment us before the time? And the demons besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, send us into the herd of swine. And he said to them, Go. And they came out, and went into the swine. And lo! the whole herd rushed down the steep into the lake, and perished in the waters. And the herdsmen fled, and went away into the city, and told everything, and what had happened to the men possessed by demons. And lo! the whole city came out to meet Jesus; and when they saw him, they besought him to depart from their borders.

And when he had come out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, who had his dwelling in the tombs; and not even with a chain could any one bind him any longer; because he had often been bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been snapped asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces; and no one could master him; read more.
and continually, night and day, in the tombs and in the mountains, he was crying out, and cutting himself, with stones. And he besought him much not to send them out of the country. Now there was there, by the mountain, a great herd of swine feeding. And they besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. And he gave them leave. And the unclean spirits coming out, entered into the swine; and the herd rushed down the steep into the lake, about two thousand, and were drowned in the lake. And they that fed them fled, and told the news in the city and in the country. And they came to see what had been done. And they come to Jesus, and see him who had been possessed by demons, sitting, clothed, and in his right mind,him who had had the legion; and they were afraid. And they who saw it told them how it befell him that was possessed by the demons, and concerning the swine. And they began to beseech him to depart from their borders. And when he was going on board the boat, he that had been possessed by the demons besought him that be might be with him. And he did not permit him, but said to him, Go to thy house to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and that he hath had compassion on thee. And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him; and all wondered.

And it came to pass, as we were going to the place of prayer, that a certain bondmaid having a soothsaying spirit met us, who brought her masters much gain by soothsaying. This woman followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, who announce to you the way of salvation. And this she did for many days. But Paul, being much displeased, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And it came out immediately.

Then was brought to him one possessed by a demon, blind and dumb; and he healed him, so that the dumb man spoke and saw.

And he was casting out a demon, and it was dumb; and it came to pass, when the demon had gone out, that the dumb man spoke. And the multitudes wondered.

And the seventy returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject to us in thy name.

John said to him, Teacher, we saw one casting out demons in thy name who followeth not us; and we forbade him, because he did not follow us.

{The remaining twelve verses, according to Tischendorf and others, made originally no part of Marks Gospel. As the passage was added very early, however, since it is referred to by Irenaeus in the latter part of the second century, it is here given, as an appendix.} [And having risen early, on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary the Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven demons.

Then it goeth and taketh with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they enter in, and dwell there; and the last state of that man becometh worse than the first. So will it be also with this wicked generation.

Then some of the wandering Jewish exorcists undertook to name over those who had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, I adjure you by that Jesus whom Paul preacheth. And there were seven sons of Scevas, a Jewish chief priest, who did this. And the evil spirit answering said, Jesus I knew, and Paul I well know; but who are ye? read more.
And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them both, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
