They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ?

and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me."

Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord. That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep. But if we judged ourselves rightly, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord so that we will not be condemned along with the world.
