A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord.

But to the rest I say, not the Lord, that if any brother has a wife who is an unbeliever, and she consents to live with him, he must not divorce her. So then, she will be called an adulteress if she lives with another man while her husband is alive. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law, and though she marries another man, she is not an adulteress.
But I say to the unmarried and to the widows that it is good for them if they remain even as I. But if they cannot exercise self-control, they should marry; for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.
So I would have younger widows marry, bear children, manage their homes, and give the enemy no occasion for reproach.
Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, and he who marries a woman divorced from her husband commits adultery.
And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery."
So he said to them, "Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her. And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery."
To the married I give charge, not I but the Lord, that the wife should not separate from her husband (but if she does leave, she must remain unmarried, or else be reconciled to her husband), and that the husband should not divorce his wife.
But I say to you that every one who divorces his wife, except on the ground of unchastity, causes her to become an adulteress; and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
