But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, fidelity, meekness, temperance: against such things there is no law.

For the grace of God, that bringeth salvation, hath appeared to all men; teaching us that denying ungodliness, and worldly desires, we should live soberly, and righteously, and piously in this present world;

Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with discretion to know how ye ought to answer every one.

Therefore let us not sleep like others, but let us watch and be sober: for they, that sleep, sleep in the night; and drunkards are drunk in the night: but let us, who are of the day, be sober; putting on the breast-plate of faith and love, and for an helmet the hope of salvation.

For a bishop must be blameless as the steward of God, not self-willed, not passionate, not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of sordid gain: but hospitable, benevolent, sober, just, holy, temperate;

that aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in the faith, in love, in patience: the aged women likewise in behaviour as becometh saints, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of that which is good; that they may instruct the young women to be temperate, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be prudent,read more.
chaste, keepers at home, good, submissive to their husbands, that the word of God may not be evil spoken of. Exhort the young men in like manner to be temperate: in all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works, with uncorruptness in teaching, gravity, sound doctrine that cannot be condemned; that he who opposeth it may be ashamed, having no evil to say of you.

What is then to be done, my brethren? when ye come together, if any of you hath a psalm, a doctrine, a tongue, a revelation, an interpretation,---let all be done for edification. And if any one speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at most by three, and that by turns; and let one interpret. But if there be no interpreter, let him be silent in the assembly; and let him speak to himself and to God.read more.
And let but two or three of the prophets speak, and the others judge. And if any thing be revealed to another sitting by, let the first have done speaking before the other begins. And to the angel of the church in Sardis write, These things saith He that hath the seven spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead: be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die; for I have not found thy works perfect in the sight of God.
