But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judaea in the place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither; and being warned by God in a dream, he withdrew into the parts of Galilee, and came and took up his abode in a city called Nazareth; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophets, "He will be called a Nazarene,"

And the multitudes said, This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.

And he said to them, What things? And they said to him, The things relating to Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in word and deed before God and all the people;

saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus of Nazareth? Thou hast come to destroy us; we know who thou art, the Holy One of God.

And they told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.

And hearing that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to cry out and say, Son of David, Jesus, have pity on me!

And Joseph also went up from Galilee out of the city of Nazareth into Judaea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David,

And in her sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee, called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgins name was Mary.

And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them. And his mother kept all these things in her heart.

And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.

And there was delivered to him the book of the prophet Isaiah; and unrolling the book, he found the place where it was written, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he anointed me to preach glad tidings to the poor; he hath sent me to proclaim deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty the oppressed, read more.
to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord." And rolling up the book, he gave it back to the attendant, and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed upon him. And he began to say to them, Today hath this scripture been fulfilled in your ears. And they all spoke in his praise, and wondered at the words of grace which proceeded from his mouth; and they said, Is not this Josephs son? And he said to them, Ye will doubtless say to me this proverb, "Physician, heal thyself;" whatever things we have heard of as having been done in Capernaum, do here too in thy own country. And he said, Truly do I say to you, No prophet is acceptable in his own country. But I tell you in truth, that there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, and there was a great famine throughout all the land; and yet to none of them was Elijah sent, but to Sarepta in Sidonia, to a woman that was a widow. And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet; and not one of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian. And all in the synagogue, when they heard this, were filled with wrath. And they rose up, and forced him out of the city and took him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, to cast him down headlong; but he, passing through the midst of them, went away.

And Nathanael said to him, Can any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith to him, Come and see.
