Know you not that he that is joined to a harlot, is one body? For the two, says the scripture, shall be one flesh.

So ought men to love their own wives as their own bodies. He that loves his wife loves himself; for no one ever yet hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Christ the church:

But Jesus Christ was begotten thus: After his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they had come together, she was found to be with child of the Holy Spirit.

Debar not one another, unless by agreement for a time, that you may have leisure for prayer; and come together again, lest Satan tempt you through your incontinence.

The wife has not power over her own body, but the husband; likewise, also, the husband has not power over his own body, but the wife.

For this cause a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh. Great is this mystery; but I speak of Christ and of the church.
