Ye will know them by their fruits: do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? so every good tree yieldeth good fruit, but a corrupt tree produces bad fruit: a good tree cannot produce evil fruit, nor can a corrupt tree bear good fruit:read more.
and every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire. So then by their fruits ye will know them.

So let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your father, who is in heaven.

Either allow the tree to be good, and it's fruit good; or shew the tree to be corrupt, and it's fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by it's fruit. But the Lord said unto him, ye pharisees clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but your inward part is full of rapine and wickedness. Senseless creatures! for we are not again recommending ourselves to you, but giving you an occasion of glorying on our account; that ye may have somewhat to answer those who glory in appearance, and not in heart.

They, who want to make a fair appearance in the flesh, would constrain you to be circumcised; only that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ.

For which cause we are not disheartened: but though our outward man decayeth, yet the inward man is renewed daily. For our short and light affliction is working out for us an infinite and eternal weight of glory, as we aim not at the things which are visible, but invisible: for those, which are visible, are temporary, but the invisible are eternal.

nor is that circumcision, which is only in appearance, in the flesh; but he is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is that of the heart in the spirit, not in the letter: whose praise is not from men, but from God.

Whose adorning, let it not be that without, of plaiting the hair, and putting on of gold, or wearing fine clothes; but the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. For so also formerly the holy women, who hoped in God, adorned themselves, being submissive to their husbands; as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him her lord:

likewise that women dress themselves in decent apparel with modesty and prudence, not in braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly garments; but in good works, as becometh women professing godliness.
