And the chief priests and the elders, and the whole Sanhedrin, sought false testimony against Jesus, that they might put him to death, and found none. Though many false witnesses came, yet they found none. At last two false witnesses came, and said: This man said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.
And the chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin sought for testimony against Jesus, in order to put him to death, and found none. For many testified falsely against him, and their testimony did not agree. And some rose up, and testified falsely against him, saying:read more.
We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands. And not even in this did their testimony agree.
And they excited the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and took him by violence, and brought him into the Sanhedrin. And they brought forward false witnesses, who said: This man ceases not to speak words against this holy place, and the law. For we have heard him say, that this Jesus the Nazarene will destroy this place, and will change the customs which Moses delivered to us.
