knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and for scorners, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for man-slayers, for lewd persons, for sodomites, for men-stealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and for whatever other thing is opposed to sound teaching,

And the chief priests and the elders, and the whole Sanhedrin, sought false testimony against Jesus, that they might put him to death, and found none. Though many false witnesses came, yet they found none. At last two false witnesses came, and said: This man said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.

And they excited the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and took him by violence, and brought him into the Sanhedrin. And they brought forward false witnesses, who said: This man ceases not to speak words against this holy place, and the law. For we have heard him say, that this Jesus the Nazarene will destroy this place, and will change the customs which Moses delivered to us.
