And Jesus replied, He wrote this precept on account of your cruel tempers: but from the beginning of the world, God created them male and female. And the scribes and pharisees brought to Him a woman taken in adultery; and setting her in the midst, they said to Him, "This woman was caught in the very act, committing adultery. Now Moses in the law has commanded us that such women should be stoned, but what sayest Thou?"read more.

And He said unto them as He was teaching them, Beware of the scribes, who love to walk in long robes, and salutations in public-places, and the chief seats in the synagogues, and uppermost places at feasts; who devour widows houses, and for a shew of religion make long prayers: these shall receive the heavier judgement.

And as He went into the house of one of the chief of the pharisees to eat on the sabbath-day, and they were watching Him, behold, there was a certain man before Him that had a dropsy. And Jesus spake to the expounders of the law and to the pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath-day?read more.
but they made no answer. And He took him and healed him, and sent him away: and said unto them, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fall into a pit, and will not immediately draw him out even on the sabbath-day? and they were not able to answer Him again to these things.

And one of the pharisees asked Him to eat with him: and He went into the pharisee's house, and sat down.

And there were gathered unto Him the pharisees, and some of the scribes, from Jerusalem; and when they saw some of his disciples eating with impure (that is, unwashed) hands, they found fault:

And as He spake, a certain pharisee asked Him to dine with him: and He went in and sat down at table.

At the same time came some of the pharisees, and said to Him, Go out and depart hence, for Herod intends to kill thee.

In the mean time great multitudes of people being gathered together about Him, so that they trode upon one another, He began to say to his disciples, Beware of the leaven of the pharisees, which is hypocrisy: for there is nothing concealed,

For I tell you, that unless your righteousness exceed that of the scribes and pharisees, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Now when his disciples departed to the other side, they forgot to take bread with them: and therefore when Jesus said to them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the pharisees and of the sadducees, they said one to another, It is because we have taken no bread.read more.

And when the fruit-season drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, to receive the fruits of it: and the husbandmen took his servants and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.read more.
And he sent again other servants more than the first: and they did the like to them. At last he sent unto them his Son, saying, They will reverence my Son. Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites, who tithe even your mint, and anise, and cummin, but neglect the weightier matters of the law, judgement, mercy, and fidelity: these ye ought undoubtedly to practise, and not to omit the others. Blind guides, who strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel! Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites; for ye clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but within they are full of rapine and intemperance: thou blind pharisee, cleanse first the inside of the cup and of the dish, that the outside of them may be also clean. And he called him, and said unto him, What is this I hear of thee? give up the accounts of thy stewardship, for thou canst be no longer steward. I know what I will do, that when I am turned out of my place, they may receive me into their houses. So he called his master's debtors to him, and said to the first, How much owest thou to my master? and he said, an hundred baths of oil. And he said to him, Take thy bill, and sit down and write but fifty. Then he said to another, And how much owest thou? and he said, an hundred measures of wheat: and he said to him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore. And his master commended the dishonest steward as having acted prudently: for the men of this world are as to their affairs wiser than the children of light. And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends with these unrighteous treasures, that when they fail, ye may be received into everlasting habitations. He, that is faithful in the lest, is faithful also in much: and he, that is unjust in the lest, is unjust also in much. If therefore ye have not been faithful in the false riches, who will intrust you with the true? and if ye have not been faithful in that which was another's, who will give you that which is your own? No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or at lest he will be attached to the one, and neglect the other. Ye cannot serve God and Mammon. And the pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things; and derided Him. And He said unto them, Ye justify yourselves before men, but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

And He spake also this parable to some that trusted in themselves as being righteous, and despised others. Two men went up to the temple to pray; the one a pharisee and the other a publican. The pharisee standing by himself prayed thus, O God, I thank thee that I am not as other men are, rapacious, unjust, adulterous, or even as this publican.read more.
I fast twice a week, and I give tithes of all that I possess. But the publican standing at a distance did not presume so much as to lift up his eyes to heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, O God, be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for whoever exalteth himself shall be abased, but he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

As He was saying these things unto them the scribes and pharisees began vehemently to attack Him, and urge Him to speak of many things, laying snares for Him, and endeavouring to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse Him.

and behold, they brought to Him one that had the palsy laid on a couch: and Jesus seeing their faith said to the paralytic, Take heart my son, for thy sins are forgiven thee. Upon which, some of the scribes said in themselves, This man blasphemeth: but Jesus knowing their surmises, said to them, Why think ye evil in your hearts?read more.
For which is easier? To say, thy sins be forgiven thee? or to say, rise up and walk? but that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, Arise (saith He then to the paralytic) and take up thy couch, and go away to thy house. And he rose up and went away to his own house.

there came some to Him, bringing a paralytic who was carried by four men: and not being able to come near to Him for the croud, they uncovered the roof where He was, and when they had made an openning, they let down the couch on which the paralytic was laid. But there were some of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God? And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to his disciples, Why doth your master eat with publicans and sinners? But Jesus hearing them, said unto them, They that are in health need not a physician, but they that are ill: go therefore and learn what that means,read more.

And as they were going out, there was brought to Him a dumb man, a demoniac: and when the demon was cast out, the dumb man spake; and the multitudes were amazed, saying, there had never been seen the like in Israel: but the pharisees said, he casts out devils by the prince of the devils.

Then was brought to Him a demoniac, who was blind and dumb; and he healed Him, so that the blind and dumb man both spake and saw: and all the multitudes were amazed, and said, "Is not this the Son of David?" which the pharisees hearing, said, "He only casts out demons by the help of Beelzebub the prince of the devils."

And the scribes that came down from Jerusalem said, He is in league with Beelzebub, and casts out demons by the help of the prince of demons.

About this time as Jesus passed through the cornfields on the sabbath-day, his disciples being hungry began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat them. And when the pharisees saw it they said to Him, See, thy disciples are doing what is not lawful for them to do on the sabbath.

And as He was going thro' the corn-fields on the sabbath-day, his disciples began as they went along to pluck the ears of corn. And the pharisees said to Him, See, why do they what is not lawful to be done on the sabbath-day?

And it came to pass on the second-sabbath after the first, that as He was passing through the corn-fields, his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and rubbed them in their hands and ate them. And some of the pharisees said to them, Why do ye do that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath-days?

And the scribes and pharisees watched Him to see if He would work a cure on the sabbath: that they might find an accusation against Him.

So they brought him, that had formerly been blind, to the pharisees. Now it was the sabbath-day, when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes. Therefore the pharisees also asked him again, how he recovered his sight. And he said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.read more.
Then said some of the pharisees, This man is not of God, because He doth not keep the sabbath: but others said, How can a wicked man do such miracles? And there was a division among them.

And one of the pharisees asked Him to eat with him: and He went into the pharisee's house, and sat down. And behold a woman in the city, that was a sinner, when she knew that He was at table in the pharisee's house, brought an alabaster-box of ointment, and stood at his feet behind Him, weeping, and washed his feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.read more.
But when the pharisee that invited Him saw it, he said within himself, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what sort of a woman this is that toucheth Him; for she is a notorious sinner.

Then drew near unto Him all the publicans and other notorious sinners, to hear Him. And the pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man entertaineth wicked persons, and eateth with them.

And when He was now come near to the foot of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples rejoicing began to praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works which they had seen, saying, Blessed be the king that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest! And some of the pharisees from among the multitude said to Him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.read more.
And He answered them, I tell you, that if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.

The pharisees therefore said to Him, Thou bearest witness of thyself; thy testimony is not true.

And Jesus said, I am come into this world to execute judgement; that they who see not, may see; and that they who say they see, may be made blind. And some of the pharisees who were present, heard these words, and said to Him, Are we blind also? Jesus replied, If ye were blind, ye would not have sin: but now ye say, We see; your sin therefore remaineth.

And the pharisees went out, and immediately took counsel with the Herodians against Him, how to destroy Him:

But the pharisees went out of the synagogue and took counsel together against Him, how they might destroy Him:

And they were filled with confusion: and consulted together, what they might do to Jesus.

And when the chief priests and pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that He spake of them: and would have seized Him, but that they were afraid of the people; because they took Him for a prophet.

And they sought to lay hands on Him, but they were afraid of the people; (for they knew that He spake the parable against them) and they left Him, and went away.

And the chief priests and the scribes would have laid hands on Him at that very time, but were afraid of the people: for they perceived that He had spoken this parable against them.

And they send to Him some of the pharisees, and of the Herodians to insnare Him in his discourse:

And they watched Him and sent out spies, pretending to be righteous men, to lay hold of his words, that they might deliver Him up to the power and authority of the governor.
