And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden, to dress it, and to keep it.
In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou shalt return to the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and to dust shalt thou return.
Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, a holy convocation: ye shall do no work in it: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.
Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labor shall increase.
In all labor there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.
Whatever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
What profit hath a man of all his labor, which he taketh under the sun?
I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.
Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labor that I had labored to do: and behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.
There is one alone, and there is not a second; yes, he hath neither child nor brother: yet is there no end of all his labor; neither is his eye satisfied with riches; neither saith he, For whom do I labor, and bereave my soul of good? This is also vanity, yes, it is a grievous labor.
And this also is a grievous evil, that in all points as he came, so shall he go: and what profit hath he that hath labored for the wind?
Why do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labor for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently to me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
Behold, is it not from the LORD of hosts that the people shall labor in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves for very vanity?
Labor not for the food which perisheth, but for that food which endureth to everlasting life, which the Son of man will give to you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
