A Song of degrees for Solomon. Except the LORD shall build the house, they labor in vain that build it: except the LORD shall keep the city, the watchman waketh in vain.

So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

But the Lord said to him, Go, for he is a chosen vessel to me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel.

For, for this cause ye pay tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.

Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus;

And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,

But he that knew not, and committed things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For to whomsoever much is given, of him shall much be required: and to whom men have committed much, from him they will ask the more.

If any man speaketh let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man ministereth let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ; to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he swore to thy fathers, as it is this day.

And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yes, the work of our hands establish thou it.

For they all made us afraid, saying, Their hands shall be weakened from the work, that it may not be done. Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands.

Not that we are sufficient by ourselves to think any thing as from ourselves; but our sufficiency is from God;

For we are laborers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.

We then, as co-workers with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.

And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God who worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden, to dress it, and to keep it.

Give ye ear, and hear my voice; hearken, and hear my speech. Doth the plowman plow all day to sow? doth he open and break the clods of his ground? When he hath made even the face of it, doth he not cast abroad the vetches, and scatter the cummin, and cast in the principal wheat, and the appointed barley, and the rye in their place?read more.
For his God doth instruct him to discretion, and doth teach him. For the vetches are not threshed with a threshing instrument, neither is a cart-wheel turned about upon the cummin; but the vetches are beaten out with a staff, and the cummin with a rod. Bread-corn is bruised; because he will not always be threshing it, nor break it with the wheel of his cart, nor bruise it with his horsemen. This also cometh forth from the LORD of hosts, who is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in operation.

So then, neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth: but God that giveth the increase.

Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.

Moreover, brethren, we make known to you the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia; That in a great trial of affliction, the abundance of their joy, and their deep poverty, abounded to the riches of their liberality. Praying us with much entreaty, that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints. And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and to us by the will of God:

The LORD thy God will raise up to thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like to me; to him ye shall hearken. I will raise up to them a prophet from among their brethren, like thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him.

And he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet; and he called his name Jedidiah, because of the LORD.

But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, hearkened to the words of the LORD, which he spoke by the prophet Jeremiah.

And by a prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.

Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken from the Lord by the prophet, saying,

For prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
