This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.
For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.
After they had mocked Him, they took the purple robe off Him and put His own garments on Him. And they *led Him out to crucify Him.
And He said, “To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest it is in parables, so that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.
All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out.
even as You gave Him authority over all flesh, that to all whom You have given Him, He may give eternal life.
in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised long ages ago,
He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority;
praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.
For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are,read more.
so that no man may boast before God.
but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory; the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they had understood it they would not have crucified the Lord of glory;
just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will,
He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him with a view to an administration suitable to the fullness of the times, that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth. In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will,
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
so that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places. This was in accordance with the eternal purpose which He carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord,
and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him—
knowing, brethren beloved by God, His choice of you; for our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction; just as you know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.
But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth. It was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity,
In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures.
