Tell us, therefore, what you think; is it right to pay tribute to Caesar or not? Jesus knowing their wickedness, said, Why do you hypocrites try me?read more.
Show me the tribute money. And they brought him a denarius [14 cents]. And he said to them, Whose is this image and this inscription? They said to him, Caesar's. On that day the Sadducees came to him, who say there is no resurrection, and asked him, saying, Teacher, Moses said, If any one dies having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up children for his brother. Now there were with us seven brothers; and the first married, and died; and having no children he left his wife to his brother; in like manner also the second, and third, till the seventh; last of all the woman died also. In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife will she be of the seven? for they all had her. And Jesus answered and said to them, You err, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are married, but are as angels in heaven. But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? And the second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom had been of this world my officers would have fought for me, that I should not be given up to the Jews; but now my kingdom is not here. Then Pilate said to him, Are you a king then? Jesus answered, As you say, I am a king. For this was I born, and for this I came into the world, that I should testify to the truth; every one who is of the truth hears my voice. Pilate said to him, What is truth? And having said this he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, I find no fault in him.

Whoever humbles himself like this little child, shall be greatest in the kingdom of heaven; and whoever receives one such little child in my name, receives me; but whoever offends one of these little ones that believe in me, it would be better for him that a millstone should be hung to his neck, and that he should be plunged into the depths of the sea.
