And going out about the third hour, he saw others standing idle in the marketplace;
Then he also that had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee to be a hard man, reaping where thou didst not sow, and gathering where thou didst not scatter seed; and I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth. See! thou hast thine own. But his lord answered and said to him, Wicked and slothful servant! Didst thou know that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I did not scatter seed?read more.
Thou oughtest then to have put my money with the moneydealers, and on my coming I should have received mine own with interest. Take therefore the talent from him, and give it to him who hath the ten talents. For to every one that hath will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him that hath not, even that which he hath will be taken away. And cast out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness; there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Moreover we exhort you, brethren, admonish the unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be forbearing to all.
Now we charge you, brethren, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which they received of us.
and withal they learn to be idle, going about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also, and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said: "The Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, slothful gluttons."
And let those also who belong to us learn to practise good works for the necessary wants that arise, that they may not be unfruitful.
that ye may not become slothful, but imitators of those who through faith and endurance inherit the promises.
