For by grace ye have been saved, through faith; and this is not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; not of works, lest any one should boast.

Either say that the tree is good, and its fruit good; or say that the tree is bad, and its fruit bad; for the tree is known by its fruit. Brood of vipers!

But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is idle? Was not Abraham our father accepted as righteous through works, when he offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Thou seest that faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect. And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, "Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him for righteousness;" and he was called the friend of God. Ye see that by works a man is accounted as righteous, and not by faith only. And let us not be fainthearted in welldoing; for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Masters, deal out to your bondservants justice and equity, knowing that ye also have a master in heaven.
