"Rabbi," his disciples asked him, "who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?" "Neither he nor his parents sinned." replied Jesus; "it happened that the works of God might be made manifest in him.
"Do not be afraid of those who kill the body, but cannot kill the soul; but fear rather him who can destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.
He was reviled, and reviled not back. When he suffered he never threatened but always committed his cause to the One who judges rightly.
So let those who are suffering according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well-doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
Look! the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you have been keeping back by fraud, are crying aloud! And the cries of the reapers have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth!
They hunger no more, Neither thirst any more; Neither will the sun strike upon them, Nor any scorching heat;

'Depart from me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels; "for I was hungry, and you gave me no food; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink; "I was a stranger, and you took me not in; naked, and you clothed me not; sick, or in prison, and you visited me not.'read more.
"Then will they also answer, 'Master, when did we ever see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister to you?' "But he will reply, 'In solemn truth I tell you that inasmuch as you did not do it unto one of these least, you did not do it unto me.' "And these will go away into eternal punishment; but the righteous into eternal life."
For judgment is without mercy to the man who has showed no mercy. but mercy glories in the face of judgment.
If the righteous man is scarcely saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
Render to her what she rendered; Yes, pay double what her deeds deserve. In the cup she mixed, mix double for her. By so much as she glorified herself and waxed wanton, By so much give her of torture and tears, For she says in her heart, 'I sit here a queen, I am no widow. I shall in no wise see mourning.'
