If the world hates you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love its own; but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
O God, the proud are risen against me, and the assemblies of violent men have sought after my soul and have not set thee before them.
I have given them thy word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
So let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as desirous of the things of others. But if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God on this behalf.

Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when did we see thee hungry and feed thee? or thirsty and give thee drink? When did we see thee a stranger and take thee in? or naked and clothe thee? Or when did we see thee sick or in prison and come unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brothers, ye have done it unto me.
And whosoever shall be a stumbling block to one of these little ones that believe in me, it would be better for him if a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
Then he said unto the disciples, It is impossible that offenses will not come, but woe unto the one through whom they come!
and falling to the earth, he heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why dost thou persecute me? And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I AM Jesus whom thou dost persecute; it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
And ye shall be hated by everyone for my name, but he that shall persevere unto the end, the same shall be saved.
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name, but he that endures to the end shall be saved.
But they will do all these things unto you for my name's sake, because they do not know him that sent me.
Think not that I have come to introduce peace into the land; I came not to introduce peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a man's foes shall be those of his own household.
Think ye that I am come to the earth to give peace? No, I tell you, but rather division; for from now on there shall be five in one house divided: three against two and two against three. The father shall be divided against the son and the son against the father, the mother against the daughter and the daughter against the mother, the mother-in-law against her daughter- in-law and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.
And Jacob dwelt in the land in which his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan. These are the generations of Jacob. And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him and could not speak peaceably unto him. And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it to his brethren; and they hated him yet the more. And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed: For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about and made obeisance to my sheaf. And he told it to his father and to his brethren; and his father reprehended him and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth? And his brethren envied him; but his father kept the word.
For the son dishonours the father, the daughter rises up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man's enemies are those of his own house.
And brother shall deliver up brother unto death, and the father the child, and children shall rise up against their parents and cause them to be put to death.
Now the brother shall deliver the brother unto death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents and shall kill them.
And they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.
saying, Did we not strictly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.
As for Saul, he made havoc of the congregation ; entering into the houses and dragging out men and women, he committed them to prison.
And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, came unto the prince of the priests and asked him for letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.
But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who covertly shall bring in destructive sects and shall deny the Lord that bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.
They shall put you out of the synagogues, and the hour will even come when whosoever kills you will think that he does God service.
and said, Behold, I see the heavens opened and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. And crying out with a loud voice, they stopped their ears and ran upon him with one accord; and casting him out of the city, they stoned him; and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul.read more.
And they stoned Stephen calling upon God and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down and cried with a loud voice, Lord, impute not this sin to their charge. And having said this, he fell asleep in the Lord.
Now at that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to mistreat certain of the congregation . And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.
I verily had thought that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth. Which things I also did in Jerusalem, and I shut up many of the saints in prison, having received authority from the princes of the priests, and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them.
And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those that had been slain because of the word of God and for the testimony which they held:
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless those that curse you, do good to those that hate you, and pray for those who speak evil about you, and persecute you; that ye may be sons of your Father who is in the heavens, for he makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
If I rejoiced at the destruction of the one that hated me or lifted up myself when evil found him; for I have never even suffered my mouth to sin by wishing a curse upon his soul;
But I say unto you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those that curse you, and pray for those who despitefully use you. And unto the one that smites thee on the one cheek offer also the other, and to the one that takes away thy cloak defend not thy coat also.
Then Jesus said, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment and cast lots.
And they stoned Stephen calling upon God and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down and cried with a loud voice, Lord, impute not this sin to their charge. And having said this, he fell asleep in the Lord.
not rendering evil for evil or curse for curse, but to the contrary, blessing, knowing that ye are called, that ye should possess a blessing by inheritance.
And set us free from our debts, as we set free our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. For if ye set men free from their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also set you free;read more.
but if ye do not set men free from their trespasses, neither will your Father set you free from your trespasses.
And forgive us our sins, for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
And when they were come to the place, which is called of the Skull, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. Then Jesus said, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment and cast lots.
Therefore, if thine enemy hungers, feed him; if he thirsts, give him drink; for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was; and when he saw him, he was moved with compassion and went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn and took care of him. And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two denarius and gave them to the host and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? And he said, He that showed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go and do thou likewise.
If thou should encounter thine enemy's ox or his ass astray, thou shalt surely bring it back to him again. If thou see the ass of him that hates thee lying under his burden, will thou forbear to help him? Thou shalt surely help him to raise it up.
Do not rejoice when thy enemy falls, and do not let thy heart be glad when he stumbles lest the LORD see it and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
Then Saul said, I have sinned; return, my son David; for I will do no more harm unto thee because my life was precious in thine eyes today. Behold, I have played the fool and have erred exceedingly.
Be temperate and vigilant because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour,
And the LORD said unto Satan, Where dost thou come from? Then Satan answered the LORD and said, From going to and fro in the earth and from walking up and down in it. And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my slave Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that fears God and has departed from evil? Then Satan answered the LORD and said, Does Job fear God for nothing?
And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has desired to have you that he may sift you as wheat;
But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, that by me the preaching might be fully known and that all the Gentiles might hear, and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work and will save me for his heavenly kingdom, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
resist him steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are to be accomplished in the company of your brethren that are in the world.
(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God for the destruction of strong holds),
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God that ye may be able to stand firm against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the lords of this age, rulers of this darkness, against spiritual wickedness in the heavens.read more.
Therefore, take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day and stand fast, all the work having been finished. Stand firm, therefore, having your loins girt about with truth and having on the breastplate, of righteousness, and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, above all, taking the shield of faith, with which ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit and watching in this with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints
I desire therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, govern the house, giving no occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully. For some are already turned back after Satan.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith;
Submit yourselves, therefore, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Thou shalt prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; thou hast anointed my head with oil; my cup is running over.
I do not pray that thou should take them out of the world, but that thou should keep them from the evil.
The habitation of God is eternal, and underneath the everlasting arms; he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee and shall say, Destroy them.

The LORD is my rock and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against those who are not merciful; O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in tribulation.
Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; defend me from those that rise up against me. Deliver me from the workers of iniquity and save me from bloodthirsty men.
In thee, O LORD, have I waited; let me not be forever put to shame. Deliver me in thy righteousness and cause me to escape; incline thine ear unto me and save me. Be thou my strong habitation unto which I may continually resort; thou hast given a commandment that I should be saved because thou art my rock and my fortress.read more.

Fear ye not, therefore; ye are of more value than many sparrows.
but I have prayed for thee that thy faith fail not; and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
from now on there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day, and not to me only, but unto all those also that have loved his appearing.
The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.
but is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who has annulled death, and has brought life and incorruption to light through the gospel,
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and death shall be no more neither shall there be any more sorrow nor crying nor pain; for the former things are passed away.
