And he set out and went to Samaria. On the way as he was at the place of the sand heaps [meeting place] for the shepherds,
In the same region there were shepherds staying out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And he put [a distance of] three days’ journey between himself and Jacob, and Jacob was then left in care of the rest of Laban’s flock.

But David said to Saul, “Your servant was tending his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock,
