knowing this first, that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking and walking after their own lusts, and saying, "Where is the promise of his coming? For, from the day that the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation."

But shun empty chatter, for they will proceed further in ungodliness,

But refuse profane and old wives' tales. Exercise yourself toward godliness.

Timothy, guard that which is committed to you, turning away from the empty chatter and oppositions of the knowledge which is falsely so called; which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with you.
