'Ask' in the Bible
And this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem so that they could ask him, "Who are you?"
So the Samaritan woman said to him, "How do you, being a Jew, ask from me [water] to drink, [since I] am a Samaritan woman?" (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)
But how he now sees we do not know, or who opened his eyes we do not know. Ask him! {He is a mature adult}; he will speak for himself!"
Because of this his parents said, "{He is a mature adult}; ask him.")
Even now I know that whatever you ask God, God will grant you."
And {whatever} you ask in my name, I will do this, in order that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, in order that he may be with you {forever}--
If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want and it will be done for you.
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and your fruit should remain, in order that whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you.
Jesus knew that they were wanting to ask him, and he said to them, "Are you deliberating with one another about this--that I said, 'A little [while], and you will not see me, and again a little [while] and you will see me'?
And on that day you will ask me nothing. Truly, truly I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name, he will give you.
Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.
On that day you will ask in my name, and I do not say to you that I will ask the Father on your behalf.
Now we know that you know everything and do not {need for} anyone to ask you [questions]. By this we believe that you have come from God."
I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you protect them from the evil one.
"And I do not ask on behalf of these only, but also on behalf of those who believe in me through their word,
Why are you asking me? Ask those who heard what I have said to them! Behold, these [people] know what I said."
Jesus said to them, "Come, eat breakfast!" But none of the disciples dared to ask him, "Who are you?" [because they] knew that it was the Lord.
