'Citizenship' in the Bible
The commander replied, “I bought this citizenship for a large amount of money.”“But I was born a citizen,” Paul said.
At that time you were without the Messiah, excluded from the citizenship of Israel, and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world.
Therefore you are no longer outsiders (exiles, migrants, and aliens, excluded from the rights of citizens), but you now share citizenship with the saints (God's own people, consecrated and set apart for Himself); and you belong to God's [own] household.
but our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
