'Folds' in the Bible
Jacob said, “Look, the sun is still high [overhead]; it is a long time before the flocks need to be gathered [in their folds for the night]. Water the sheep, and go, and return them to their pasture.”
Build yourselves cities for your children, and folds for your sheep, and do that of which you have spoken.”
Beth-nimrah, and Beth-haran, fortified (walled) cities, and sheepfolds for sheep.
“The folds of his flesh are joined together,Firm on him and immobile [when he moves].
“I will accept no young bull from your houseNor male goat from your folds.
The fool folds his hands [together] and consumes his own flesh [destroying himself by idleness and apathy].
“Then I will gather the remnant of My flock out of all the countries to which I have driven them and bring them back to their folds and pastures; and they will be fruitful and multiply.
“And the peaceful folds are devastated and made silentBecause of the fierce anger of the Lord.
O Lord, I cry out to You,For fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness,And the flame has burned up all the trees of the field.
Even the wild animals pant [in longing] for You;For the water brooks are dried upAnd fire has consumed the pastures of the wilderness.
So the [depopulated] seacoast shall be pastures,With [deserted] meadows for shepherds and folds for flocks.
