'Footstool' in the Bible
King David rose to his feet and said, "My fellow citizens, may I have your attention. I intended to build a house of rest for the Ark of the Covenant of the LORD, for a footstool of our God, so I began preparations for its construction.
Six steps led up to the throne. A golden footstool was attached to the throne, which had armrests on each side of the seat and two lions standing on either side of each armrest.
Exalt the LORD our God; worship and bow down at his footstool; He is holy!
A declaration from the LORD to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool."
Let's go to his dwelling place and worship at his footstool.
This is what the LORD says: "Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Where is the house that you would build for me, and where will my resting place be?

Since that time, he has been waiting for his enemies to be made a footstool for his feet.
