Before the mountains were bornOr You gave birth to the earth and the world,Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.
Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us;And confirm for us the work of our hands;Yes, confirm the work of our hands.
I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,My God, in whom I trust!”
Planted in the house of the Lord,They will flourish in the courts of our God.
They have said, “The Lord does not see,Nor does the God of Jacob pay heed.”
But the Lord has been my stronghold,And my God the rock of my refuge.
He has brought back their wickedness upon themAnd will destroy them in their evil; The Lord our God will destroy them.
For the Lord is a great GodAnd a great King above all gods,
For He is our God,And we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand.Today, if you would hear His voice,
He has remembered His lovingkindness and His faithfulness to the house of Israel; All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
Exalt the Lord our GodAnd worship at His footstool;Holy is He.
O Lord our God, You answered them; You were a forgiving God to them,And yet an avenger of their evil deeds.
Exalt the Lord our GodAnd worship at His holy hill,For holy is the Lord our God.
Know that the Lord Himself is God;It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
I say, “O my God, do not take me away in the midst of my days,Your years are throughout all generations.
Bless the Lord, O my soul!O Lord my God, You are very great; You are clothed with splendor and majesty,
The young lions roar after their preyAnd seek their food from God.
I will sing to the Lord as long as I live;I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.
He is the Lord our God;His judgments are in all the earth.
But craved intensely in the wilderness,And tempted God in the desert.
Save us, O Lord our God,And gather us from among the nations,To give thanks to Your holy nameAnd glory in Your praise.
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,From everlasting even to everlasting. And let all the people say, “Amen.”Praise the Lord!
Because they had rebelled against the words of GodAnd spurned the counsel of the Most High.
A Song, a Psalm of David. My heart is steadfast, O God;I will sing, I will sing praises, even with my soul.
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens,And Your glory above all the earth.
God has spoken in His holiness:“I will exult, I will portion out ShechemAnd measure out the valley of Succoth.
Have not You Yourself, O God, rejected us?And will You not go forth with our armies, O God?
Through God we will do valiantly,And it is He who shall tread down our adversaries.
For the choir director. A Psalm of David.O God of my praise,Do not be silent!
But You, O God, the Lord, deal kindly with me for Your name’s sake;Because Your lovingkindness is good, deliver me;
Help me, O Lord my God;Save me according to Your lovingkindness.
Who is like the Lord our God,Who is enthroned on high,
Tremble, O earth, before the Lord,Before the God of Jacob,
Why should the nations say,“Where, now, is their God?”
But our God is in the heavens; He does whatever He pleases.
Gracious is the Lord, and righteous;Yes, our God is compassionate.
The Lord is God, and He has given us light;Bind the festival sacrifice with cords to the horns of the altar.
You are my God, and I give thanks to You;You are my God, I extol You.
Depart from me, evildoers,That I may observe the commandments of my God.
For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,I will seek your good.
Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master,As the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress,So our eyes look to the Lord our God,Until He is gracious to us.
You who stand in the house of the Lord,In the courts of the house of our God!
Give thanks to the God of gods,For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
Give thanks to the God of heaven,For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!How vast is the sum of them!
O that You would slay the wicked, O God;Depart from me, therefore, men of bloodshed.
Search me, O God, and know my heart;Try me and know my anxious thoughts;
I said to the Lord, “You are my God;Give ear, O Lord, to the voice of my supplications.
“O God the Lord, the strength of my salvation,You have covered my head in the day of battle.
For my eyes are toward You, O God, the Lord;In You I take refuge; do not leave me defenseless.
Teach me to do Your will,For You are my God;Let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.
I will sing a new song to You, O God;Upon a harp of ten strings I will sing praises to You,
How blessed are the people who are so situated; How blessed are the people whose God is the Lord!
A Psalm of Praise, of David.I will extol You, my God, O King,And I will bless Your name forever and ever.
I will praise the Lord while I live;I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.
How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,Whose hope is in the Lord his God,
The Lord will reign forever,Your God, O Zion, to all generations.Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God;For it is pleasant and praise is becoming.
Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving;Sing praises to our God on the lyre,
Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem!Praise your God, O Zion!
Let the high praises of God be in their mouth,And a two-edged sword in their hand,
Praise the Lord!Praise God in His sanctuary;Praise Him in His mighty expanse.
Then you will discern the fear of the LordAnd discover the knowledge of God.
That leaves the companion of her youthAnd forgets the covenant of her God;
So you will find favor and good reputeIn the sight of God and man.
It is the glory of God to conceal a matter,But the glory of kings is to search out a matter.
Every word of God is tested; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.
That I not be full and deny You and say, “Who is the Lord?”Or that I not be in want and steal,And profane the name of my God.
And I set my mind to seek and explore by wisdom concerning all that has been done under heaven. It is a grievous task which God has given to the sons of men to be afflicted with.
There is nothing better for a man than to eat and drink and tell himself that his labor is good. This also I have seen that it is from the hand of God.
I have seen the task which God has given the sons of men with which to occupy themselves.
He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart, yet so that man will not find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end.
moreover, that every man who eats and drinks sees good in all his labor—it is the gift of God.
I know that everything God does will remain forever; there is nothing to add to it and there is nothing to take from it, for God has so worked that men should fear Him.
That which is has been already and that which will be has already been, for God seeks what has passed by.
I said to myself, “God will judge both the righteous man and the wicked man,” for a time for every matter and for every deed is there.
I said to myself concerning the sons of men, “God has surely tested them in order for them to see that they are but beasts.”
Guard your steps as you go to the house of God and draw near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools; for they do not know they are doing evil.
Do not be hasty in word or impulsive in thought to bring up a matter in the presence of God. For God is in heaven and you are on the earth; therefore let your words be few.
When you make a vow to God, do not be late in paying it; for He takes no delight in fools. Pay what you vow!
Do not let your speech cause you to sin and do not say in the presence of the messenger of God that it was a mistake. Why should God be angry on account of your voice and destroy the work of your hands?
For in many dreams and in many words there is emptiness. Rather, fear God.
Here is what I have seen to be good and fitting: to eat, to drink and enjoy oneself in all one’s labor in which he toils under the sun during the few years of his life which God has given him; for this is his reward.
Furthermore, as for every man to whom God has given riches and wealth, He has also empowered him to eat from them and to receive his reward and rejoice in his labor; this is the gift of God.
For he will not often consider the years of his life, because God keeps him occupied with the gladness of his heart.
a man to whom God has given riches and wealth and honor so that his soul lacks nothing of all that he desires; yet God has not empowered him to eat from them, for a foreigner enjoys them. This is vanity and a severe affliction.
Consider the work of God,For who is able to straighten what He has bent?
In the day of prosperity be happy,But in the day of adversity consider—God has made the one as well as the otherSo that man will not discover anything that will be after him.
It is good that you grasp one thing and also not let go of the other; for the one who fears God comes forth with both of them.
And I discovered more bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and nets, whose hands are chains. One who is pleasing to God will escape from her, but the sinner will be captured by her.
Behold, I have found only this, that God made men upright, but they have sought out many devices.”
I say, “Keep the command of the king because of the oath before God.
Although a sinner does evil a hundred times and may lengthen his life, still I know that it will be well for those who fear God, who fear Him openly.
But it will not be well for the evil man and he will not lengthen his days like a shadow, because he does not fear God.
So I commended pleasure, for there is nothing good for a man under the sun except to eat and to drink and to be merry, and this will stand by him in his toils throughout the days of his life which God has given him under the sun.
and I saw every work of God, I concluded that man cannot discover the work which has been done under the sun. Even though man should seek laboriously, he will not discover; and though the wise man should say, “I know,” he cannot discover.
For I have taken all this to my heart and explain it that righteous men, wise men, and their deeds are in the hand of God. Man does not know whether it will be love or hatred; anything awaits him.
Go then, eat your bread in happiness and drink your wine with a cheerful heart; for God has already approved your works.
