'Gripped' in the Bible

“The peoples have heard, they tremble;Anguish has gripped the inhabitants of Philistia.

Some Hebrews even crossed the Jordan to the land of Gad and Gilead.Saul, however, was still at Gilgal, and all his troops were gripped with fear.

But the evil-doers, all of them, will be like thorns to be pushed away, because they may not be gripped in the hand:
