But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your soul is to be demanded of you. Then who will have all that you have prepared?'

Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we are going to such and such a city and stay a year, go into business and make money,"

but anyone who disowns me before men will be disowned before the angels of God.

To the same degree in which she has lived in splendor and luxury, give her torture and tears. Because she is always boasting in her heart, 'I sit enthroned as queen; I am not a widow, I shall never experience any sorrow' -- for this very reason her plagues will overtake her in a single day, death, grief, and famine, and she will be burned up with fire; because the Lord who has judged her is mighty.

After that some little children were brought to Him, for Him to lay His hands on them and pray for them, but His disciples reproved those who brought them.

But some of the guests were indignantly saying to themselves, "Why was such a waste of the perfume made? It might have been sold for more than sixty dollars, and the money have been given to the poor." So they kept on grumbling at her.

Because you say, 'I am rich, I have already become rich, I need nothing,' and you do not know that you are the very one that is wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked;

And the passers-by kept hissing at Him, shaking their heads and saying, "Aha! You are the man who would tear down the temple and build another in three days! It was just after that that Jesus Christ for the first time clearly taught His disciples that He had to go to Jerusalem and submit to many forms of suffering at the hands of the elders, high priests, and scribes, and be killed, but be raised to life on the third day. And Peter took Him aside and began to chide Him, as he said, "Heaven shield you, my Lord! This must never be your lot!" But He turned and said to Peter, "Get out of my way, you Satan! You are a hindrance to me, for this view of yours is not from God but from men."

And without any reserve He was telling them this fact. So Peter took Him aside and began to reprove Him for it.

Although they know full well God's sentence that those who practice such things deserve to die, yet they not only practice them but even applaud others who do them.
