'Holds' in the Bible

The Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man fearing God and turning away from evil. And he still holds fast his integrity, although you incited Me against him to ruin him without cause.”

“He trusts in his house, but it does not stand;He holds fast to it, but it does not endure.

The one who is at ease holds calamity in contemptand thinks it is prepared for those whose feet are slipping.

If he holds back the waters, then they dry up; if he releases them, they destroy the land.

But the righteous man holds to his way, and the one with clean hands grows stronger.

Though he desires it and will not let it go,But holds it in his mouth,

“He wraps the waters in His clouds [which otherwise would spill on earth all at once],And the cloud does not burst under them.

“Its stones are the bed of sapphires;It holds dust of gold.

He holds back his soul from the pit [of destruction],And his life from passing over into Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead).
