'King' in the Bible

The word of the Lord which came to Hosea the son of Beeri, during the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and during the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel.

For the sons of Israel will remain for many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred pillar and without ephod or household idols.

Afterward the sons of Israel will return and seek the Lord their God and David their king; and they will come trembling to the Lord and to His goodness in the last days.

Hear this, O priests!Give heed, O house of Israel!Listen, O house of the king!For the judgment applies to you,For you have been a snare at MizpahAnd a net spread out on Tabor.

When Ephraim saw his sickness,And Judah his wound,Then Ephraim went to AssyriaAnd sent to King Jareb.But he is unable to heal you,Or to cure you of your wound.

With their wickedness they make the king glad,And the princes with their lies.

On the day of our king, the princes became sick with the heat of wine;He stretched out his hand with scoffers,

Even though they hire allies among the nations,Now I will gather them up;And they will begin to diminishBecause of the burden of the king of princes.

Surely now they will say, “We have no king,For we do not revere the Lord.As for the king, what can he do for us?”

The thing itself will be carried to AssyriaAs tribute to King Jareb;Ephraim will be seized with shameAnd Israel will be ashamed of its own counsel.

Samaria will be cut off with her kingLike a stick on the surface of the water.

Thus it will be done to you at Bethel because of your great wickedness.At dawn the king of Israel will be completely cut off.

They will not return to the land of Egypt;But Assyria—he will be their kingBecause they refused to return to Me.

Where now is your kingThat he may save you in all your cities,And your judges of whom you requested,“Give me a king and princes”?

I gave you a king in My angerAnd took him away in My wrath.
