'Life' in the Bible

All her people groan, seeking bread;They have exchanged their desirable and precious things for foodTo restore their lives.“See, O Lord, and considerHow despised and repulsive I have become!”

For these [things], I am weeping, {my eyes flow with tears}; because a comforter is far from me, one to restore my life. My sons are desolate because [the] enemy has prevailed.

I have called to my lovers, they themselves deceived me; my priests and elders perished in the city when they sought food for themselves to revive their life.

Look, LORD, how distressed I am; all my insides are churning. My heart is troubled within me, because I vigorously rebelled. Outside the sword brings loss of life, while at home death rules.

They ask their mothers, "Is there anything to eat or drink?" They faint in the streets of the city like wounded men. Their life ebbs away while they lie on their mother's bosom.

Arise, cry out in the night: in the beginning of the watches pour out thine heart like water before the face of the Lord: lift up thy hands toward him for the life of thy young children, that faint for hunger in the top of every street.

He has made my life nothing but pain, he has given me the bitter root in full measure.

You have removed peace from my life; I have forgotten what prosperity is.

They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and cast a stone upon me.

O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life.

ר ReshThe Lord’s anointed, the breath of our life,was captured in their traps.We had said about him,“We will live under his protection among the nations.”

{We risk our life for food} because of the sword of the desert.

Bring us back to yourself, O Lord, so that we may return to you; renew our life as in days before,
