'Poles' in the Bible
You are to make poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold.
You are to put the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark with which to carry it.
The poles are to remain in the rings of the ark and are not to be removed from it.
The rings are to be close to the rim as holders for the poles to carry the table.

The wings of the cherubim spread over the resting place for the ark, so that the cherubim made a covering over the ark and its poles when viewed from above.

They will not look upon the altars, the products that their own fingers have made, and they will have no regard for Asherah poles or incense altars.
By this, then, Jacob's guilt will be atoned for, and this will be the full harvest that comes from the removal of his sin: when he makes all the altar stones like pulverized chalkstones, no Asherah poles or incense altars will be left standing.
When their sons remember, they remember their altars and their Asherah poles beside green trees on the high hills.
