'World' in the Bible

Every nation came to Joseph in Egypt to buy grain, for the famine was severe in every land.

He raises the poor from the dustand lifts the needy from the garbage pile.He seats them with noblemenand gives them a throne of honor.For the foundations of the earth are the Lord’s;He has set the world on them.

Today, the Lord will hand you over to me. Today, I’ll strike you down, cut your head off, and give the corpses of the Philistine camp to the birds of the sky and the creatures of the earth. Then all the world will know that Israel has a God,

They swirl about,turning round and round at His direction,accomplishing everything He commands themover the surface of the inhabited world.

He judges the world with righteousness;He executes judgment on the nations with fairness.

With Your hand, Lord, save me from men,from men of the worldwhose portion is in this life:You fill their bellies with what You have in store;their sons are satisfied,and they leave their surplus to their children.
