'Dead' in the Bible

So he got up and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Be quiet! Calm down!" Then the wind stopped, and it was dead calm.

When he entered he said to them, "Why are you distressed and weeping? The child is not dead but asleep."

Now King Herod heard this, for Jesus' name had become known. Some were saying, "John the baptizer has been raised from the dead, and because of this, miraculous powers are at work in him."

As they were coming down from the mountain, he gave them orders not to tell anyone what they had seen until after the Son of Man had risen from the dead.

They kept this statement to themselves, discussing what this rising from the dead meant.

It shrieked, threw him into terrible convulsions, and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, "He is dead!"

For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.

Now as for the dead being raised, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the bush, how God said to him, 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'?

He is not the God of the dead but of the living. You are badly mistaken!"

Pilate was surprised that he was already dead. He called the centurion and asked him if he had been dead for some time.
