'Flatter' in the Bible
Then Mordecai told them to reply to Esther, “Do not imagine that you in the king’s palace can escape any more than all the Jews.
I won't discriminate against anyone, and I won't flatter any person,
since I don't know the first thing about how to flatter; and the one who made me would sweep me away as if I were nothing."
For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.
They say, "We speak persuasively; we know how to flatter and boast. Who is our master?"
Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied unto him with their tongues.
