'Lie' in the Bible
In peace I will lie down and sleep {at once}, for you alone, O Yahweh, make me dwell safely.
In grassy pastures he makes me lie down; by quiet waters he leads me.
Blessed [is] the man who makes Yahweh his trust and does not turn to [the] proud and [to those who] fall away [to] a lie.
You love evil more than good, a lie more than speaking {what is right}. Selah
They attack, they hide, they watch my {steps}, as they [lie in] wait for my life.
My soul [is] among lions. I lie down [among those who] devour-- the children of humankind whose teeth [are] spears and arrows and whose tongues [are] sharp swords.
For look, they lie in wait for my life. The mighty attack against me, not [because of] my transgression or my sin, O Yahweh.
Though you [men] lie down between the sheepfolds, [you will be like the] wings of a dove covered in silver and its pinions in yellow gold."
Once I have sworn by my holiness, 'I will surely not lie to David,
[When] the sun rises, they gather together and lie down in their dens.
For me [the] wicked [lie in] wait to destroy me. I give attention to your testimonies.
