“Bear with me, and I also will speak;And after I have spoken, you may [continue to] mock [me].

All who see me laugh at me and mock me;They [insultingly] open their lips, they shake their head, saying,

Fools mock sin [but sin mocks the fools],But among the upright there is good will and the favor and blessing of God.

When you make a vow or a pledge to God, do not put off paying it; for God takes no pleasure in fools [who thoughtlessly mock Him]. Pay what you vow.

It may be that the Lord your God will hear the words of the Rabshakeh [the commander], whom his master the king of Assyria has sent to taunt and defy the living God, and will avenge the words which the Lord your God has heard.
