'Poverty' in the Bible
Your poverty will come in like a vagabondAnd your need like an armed man.
The rich man’s wealth is his fortress,The ruin of the poor is their poverty.
Poverty and shame will come to him who neglects discipline,But he who regards reproof will be honored.
In all labor there is profit,But mere talk leads only to poverty.
The plans of the diligent lead surely to advantage,But everyone who is hasty comes surely to poverty.
He who oppresses the poor to make more for himselfOr who gives to the rich, will only come to poverty.
For the heavy drinker and the glutton will come to poverty,And drowsiness will clothe one with rags.
Then your poverty will come as a robberAnd your want like an armed man.
He who tills his land will have plenty of food,But he who follows empty pursuits will have poverty in plenty.
Keep deception and lies far from me,Give me neither poverty nor riches;Feed me with the food that is my portion,
Let him drink and forget his povertyAnd remember his trouble no more.
