'Praise' in the Bible
At that time, Jesus answering said, I praise thee, Father, Lord of the heaven and of the earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to babes.
and said to him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus says to them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?
and she coming up the same hour gave praise to the Lord, and spoke of him to all those who waited for redemption in Jerusalem.
In the same hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit and said, I praise thee, Father, Lord of the heaven and of the earth, that thou hast hid these things from wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to babes: yea, Father, for thus has it been well-pleasing in thy sight.
And immediately he saw, and followed him, glorifying God. And all the people when they saw it gave praise to God.
And as he drew near, already at the descent of the mount of Olives, all the multitude of the disciples began, rejoicing, to praise God with a loud voice for all the works of power which they had seen,
but he is a Jew who is so inwardly; and circumcision, of the heart, in spirit, not in letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
For rulers are not a terror to a good work, but to an evil one. Dost thou desire then not to be afraid of the authority? practise what is good, and thou shalt have praise from it;
And again, Praise the Lord, all ye nations, and let all the peoples laud him.
So that do not judge anything before the time, until the Lord shall come, who shall also both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and shall make manifest the counsels of hearts; and then shall each have his praise from God.
Now I praise you, that in all things ye are mindful of me; and that as I have directed you, ye keep the directions.
But in prescribing to you on this which I now enter on, I do not praise, namely, that ye come together, not for the better, but for the worse.
Have ye not then houses for eating and drinking? or do ye despise the assembly of God, and put to shame them who have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you? In this point I do not praise.
but we have sent with him the brother whose praise is in the glad tidings through all the assemblies;
to the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he has taken us into favour in the Beloved:
that we should be to the praise of his glory who have pre-trusted in the Christ:
who is the earnest of our inheritance to the redemption of the acquired possession to the praise of his glory.
being complete as regards the fruit of righteousness, which is by Jesus Christ, to God's glory and praise.
For the rest, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are noble, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are amiable, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue and if any praise, think on these things.
By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise continually to God, that is, the fruit of the lips confessing his name.
that the proving of your faith, much more precious than of gold which perishes, though it be proved by fire, be found to praise and glory and honour in the revelation of Jesus Christ:
or to rulers as sent by him, for vengeance on evildoers, and praise to them that do well.
And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his bondmen, and ye that fear him, small and great.
